Pass Plus
The Pass Plus Scheme is for people who have passed their driving test but now want to develop the attitudes and skills that are essential for safe driving for life.
Pass Plus will benefit you by:
- Enabling you to gain advanced driving skills safely and helping you to develop a more positive driving style which is both enjoyable and safe
- Reducing your risk of being involved in a road traffic accident
- Saving you money on your car insurance premiums (subject to status)
The Pass Plus course has been designed in six modules:
- Town Driving
- All Weather Driving
- Out of Town Driving and Rural Roads
- Night Driving
- Dual Carriageways
- Motorways
All six hours training is carried out in the car with the emphasis on developing your practical driving skills. A typical course based in the Hull / Beverley area would be split into the following sessions with times to be mutually agreed:
1 Hour - Night Driving in Hull City Centre followed by surrounding rural roads using high beam when necessary (including single track roads).
2 Hours - All Weather Driving, Out of Town and Rural Roads Driving (typically going north of Hull towards; Driffield, Bridlington, Malton, Norton, Wetwang, Beverley) covers: speed, stopping distances, overtaking, bends, hazards, observations, skidding and avoidance.
3 Hours - Dual Carriageways and Motorways, driving approximately 120 miles including: A63, Ferry Bridge Services, A1, A1(M), Doncaster Area, M18, Doncaster Services, M180, A15 and back to Hull Area via the Humber Bridge. Covers: joining, leaving, overtaking, forward planning, observations, breakdowns and safety procedures.
When you have completed the course and achieved the required standard via ongoing assessment you will be issued with a Certificate of Completion.
