Advanced/Fleet Training
ADVANCED DRIVER TRAINING
All Advanced Driver Training is based on the Police Advanced Driving System ROADCRAFT and is carried out in the client's own vehicle. Sessions start with an assessment of your current driving knowledge and skills. This allows us to focus on the key areas that will benefit most from improvement.
Thoughout these sessions the emphasis will be on safety and defensive driving: controlling the "Safety Bubble" around your vehicle.
Typical skills covered (or refreshed where necessary) will include:
- Observations to build a complete picture of risks and dangers (visible and anticipated)
- Knowledge of the forces acting on the vehicle during acceleration, braking and cornering
- Assessing bends accurately to maintain safe progress and increasing stability while cornering
- Developing overtaking skills to be in the right position and gear to overtake quickly and safely
OCCUPATIONAL DRIVER ASSESSMENTS
Officially the most hazardous work activity an employee is exposed to is, driving for their employer in the cause of their work (source HSE). Managing driver risk can IMPROVE your company's EFFICIENCY including:
- Reduced - insurance costs, repair costs, fuel consumption, hire costs, legal costs
- Reduced days lost to - injury, ill health, stress, low moral, investigations and paperwork
Assessments are carried out in client's own vehicles and can be done whilst your employees carry out their normal daily duties, causing little or no impact on the daily operation of your business.
FLEET DRIVER TRAINING
The most popular service consists of a THEORY SESSION followed by DRIVER ASSESSMENT and TRAINING. The Theory Session can be carried out with individuals, a small group or your entire workforce. The driver assessment ratio can be 1 trainer to 1 or 2 drivers. Each driver will be initially assessed to identify all risk areas in their driving, offered a comprehensive de-brief followed by appropriate training or coaching that prioritises the reduction of the highlighted key risk areas. A written report, based on the participants' performance will be produced at the end of the session and issued to line managers.
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires you to ensure, so far as is reasonably practical, the health and safety of all employees while at work. You also have a responsibility to ensure that others are not put at risk by your work related driving activities.
